if OP-1 does not boot, please do not worry. there are a number of things to check before assuming the worst. even if it should indeed be broken, please know that everything is modular and fixable. if your OP-1 does not boot when turning it on as usual, please follow these steps and we will guide you through the process.
note: make sure to read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your unit or accidentally loosing your user content. got it? all good, here goes!
first off, does the unit start in "te-boot"?
- make sure OP-1 is turned off and its power button is in the off position.
- disconnect the unit from any usb cable and wait a few seconds.
this is necessary to allow a proper power cycle. - press and hold the [com] key on OP-1 while turning the power on. release [com].
while doing this, please listen carefully to the internal speaker. does it 'click'? good, it's alive. - this should take you to the te-boot screen. here you can:
1. upload firmware
7. perform factory reset, etc. - turn the unit off, connect usb power and try starting it in normal mode.
starting the unit in te-boot is a great way to confirm operation of the unit hardware.
note: before resetting or reinstalling firmware, try to start OP-1 normally again by turning off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning on the unit. make sure it is running the latest OP-1 firmware found here.
if the unit does not start nor charge:
- make sure OP-1 is turned off and its power button is in the off position.
- disconnect the unit from any usb cable and wait a few seconds.
- connect OP-1 to a computer or usb charger and leave it charging and turned off for a few hours.
- after this disconnect usb again and leave it turned off for about three seconds.
- finally reconnect the unit again. does it charge now?
this is sometimes necessary it the battery has been fully discharged for a long time. try this a few times and try starting the unit in normal mode or te-boot in between tries.
if the unit starts but does not charge properly, you can try performing a battery recalibration:
- disconnect usb, turn your unit on and leave it on until it turns off by itself.
note: do not manually turn off the unit. OP-1 is off when the screen has turned black.
(this could take up to about 18 hours.) - after this, charge it fully using a computer or any standard usb charger. this can take about 2,5 - 6 hours depending on your situation. this should recalibrate the battery indicator.
your unit will charge when:
- it is turned off and connected to a usb power source. (computer / charger)
- it is turned on and connected to a usb power source, unless usb charging has been turned off in the OPT menu. ([shift] + [com], [4])
- it is in te-boot menu and connected to a usb power source.
if you still can't get OP-1 to boot, proceed to contact support.
