install the module
first, install the oplab module ZM–1 in your OP–Z.
select the module track
to send cv and gate out of your oplab module, select the module track, and play something on the musical keyboard. here's how:
- press and hold [track].
- press [module] to select the module track, then release both keys.
- play on the musical keyboard.
connect external equipment
for optimal use, connect the yellow side of two of the stereo splitter cables to the cv and gate outputs on the module, and connect each of the white and red ends into the external cv/gate-enabled equipment that you want to use. you can of course use any other compatible cable if you want.
cv / gate out
- cv: controlled by notes played or sequenced on the module track of OP-Z.
- cv 2: controlled by the [green] dial on OP-Z when on the module track.
- gate: controlled by notes played or sequenced on the module track of OP-Z.
- cv 3: controlled by the [blue] dial on OP-Z when on the module track.
midi in
to receive midi in to your oplab module, make sure the switch for the module in port is set to midi. the input uses standard 3.5 mm type a trs midi. an adapter cable for 5-pin din midi cables is included with the oplab module.
midi out
to send midi out of your oplab module, make sure the switch for the module out port is set to midi. it will output midi data from all tracks of OP-Z. for more information please refer to the OP-Z user guide.
trig in
this input is used to single-step tracks in the OP-Z sequencer. here's how to set it up:
- select any track.
- hold [track] and [shift] and press [0] to set the track length multiplier to zero.
- input a pulse of 5-10V on the jack.
the 'gate' or 'trig' output from many synths or drum machines will work fine. the input uses only the tip of the connector, so a mono cable works fine.
trig out
this output emits a short pulse (+5V) suitable for triggering drum synths, arpeggiators, gate inputs, etc. it uses the tip of the connector, so a mono cable is fine. to make any a step output a trig pulse:
- select any audio track.
- press and hold [shift].
- select step(s) [1-16].
- press [jump].
- press value key [0].
- release [shift].
- press [play] and verify led activity on the module.
PO out
for pocket operators and compatible equipment, set the switch to PO on the oplab module. to sync a pocket operator to an OP-Z do the following:
- connect a cable from oplab out to the input (left side) of a pocket operator.
- set the pocket operator to SY2 or SY3 (hold [function] and press [bpm]).
- press [play] on PO.
- press [play] on OP-Z.
